Taktshang and Bumdra Trek

Day 1: Arrival

  • Arrive at Paro International Airport, where your journey begins.
  • Meet your professional guide, who will be holding a placard.
  • Exchange introductions and pleasantries, because a warm welcome is our specialty.
  • Receive a khadhar—a traditional scarf to welcome you warmly.
  • Enjoy a bouquet of flowers, a small gesture of hospitality.
  • Be escorted to your vehicle for a smooth drive to your hotel.
  • Check in, then unwind with an evening stroll around the picturesque Paro Valley.

Day 2: Hike to Taktshang

  • Start your day early to make the most of your hike.
  • Depart for Taktshang, also known as the Tiger’s Nest.
  • Begin your hike from the trailhead. It’s a bit of a climb, but the views are worth it.
  • Arrive at Taktshang and explore the serene, surreal environment.
  • Descend back to the base. Enjoy the descent—it’s much easier going down!
  • Return to the hotel to rest and recharge.
  • Optional: An evening stroll around Paro’s main street for a bit more exploration.

Essentials for the hike:

  • Hiking gear: Sturdy footwear, a light backpack, and sun protection.
  • Rain gear: Hats, an umbrella, and raincoats. The weather can be unpredictable.
  • Water for hydration: Keep yourself refreshed.
  • Medication: If prescribed, it’s always good to be prepared.

Availabilities:

  • Cafeteria: For refreshments and snacks.
  • Rest stops: Take a break during your hike.
  • Restrooms: For your convenience along the way.
  • Hiking horses: Available if you prefer not to hike the entire way.

Day 3: Trek to Bumdra

  • Start the day with a hearty breakfast and check out from your hotel.
  • Drive to Sang Choekhor Buddhist College, where you will begin your trek.
  • Pay homage to the temple at the college before embarking on your journey.
  • Set off on your trek, enjoying the stunning views of the Paro Valley.
  • Experience the serenity of the forests and the diverse flora along the trail.
  • Arrive at the Bumdra campsite, where you’ll spend the night surrounded by nature’s beauty. (3500m)

Day 4: Descend to Paro

  • Enjoy a mountain breakfast before beginning your descent.
  • Begin your journey down, taking in the picturesque views of sacred temple roofs below.
  • Pause to admire the waterfall near Tiger’s Nest before paying your final respects to the monastery.
  • Proceed to the trailhead where your trek began.
  • Drive back to your hotel in Paro and check in.
  • Optional Evening Stroll: Consider taking a final evening stroll around the Paro Valley.

Day 5: Departure

  • Enjoy your last breakfast in Bhutan before checking out of the hotel.
  • Travel to Paro International Airport for your departure.
  • Receive a small departure gift as a token of our appreciation.
  • Leave with unforgettable memories of your adventurous Bhutanese experience.
