Snowman Trek

Day 1: Arrival

  • Arrive at Paro International Airport and kick off your epic adventure!
  • Spot your professional guide holding a placard
  • Receive a khadhar, a traditional to welcome you 
  • Enjoy a bouquet of flowers as a small but heartfelt welcome gesture.
  • Hop into your vehicle to drive to your hotel in Paro.
  • Settle into your room and get ready to unwind.
  • Take a relaxing evening walk around the scenic Paro Valley. It’s the perfect way to start adjusting to the altitude and get a taste of the local beauty.

Day 2: Explore Paro

  • Start your day with a breakfast that will fuel your excitement for the adventures ahead.
  • Marvel at the grandeur of this historical Paro Rinpung fortress. It’s like stepping back in time—minus the time travel machine.
  • Dive into Bhutanese culture and history. Think of it as your crash course before the trek gets challenging.
  • Visit this sacred site to gather strength and luck. We’re talking about a spiritual boost that even the most challenging trek can’t match.
  • Make a quick stop for a panoramic view of Paro at bird’s eye view point that will make your camera (and Instagram) very happy.
  • Optional Evening Stroll: Take a leisurely walk around Paro Valley. It’s like a warm-up for the trekking adventures to come.

Day 3: Trekking to Shana (4-5 hours)

  • Enjoy breakfast, then check out and prepare for the trek.
  • Start your journey with a visit to this iconic site—It is a good way to begin this challenging trek
  • Set off on your trek, breathing in the fresh Paro air and soaking up the scenic river views.
  • Set up your camp at Shana (2850m) and enjoy a night under the stars. Just think of it as nature’s luxury suite.

Day 4: Trekking to Thangthangkha (7-8 hours)

  • Enjoy a mountain breakfast
  • Hike through serene forests and pass by scattered nomadic huts—perfect for those “wow” moments.
  • Settle into your mountain campsite at Thangthangkha (3510m) and reflect on the day’s wonders.

Day 5: Trekking to Jangothang (4-5 hours)

  • Start your day with a breakfast that’s as hearty as the trek ahead.
  • Ascend to Jangothang. 
  • Trek towards the base of Jhomolhari, passing yak herders and taking in awe-inspiring views.
  • Camp at Jhomolhari Base/Jangothang (4115m). This is where the real adventure begins!

Day 6: Halt at Base Camp 

  • Breakfast with a view.
  • Explore day hikes around the base camp. Each trail offers a unique perspective, so take your pick (or try them all).
  • Breathe in the serene mountain air and let the peaceful surroundings work their magic.
  • Camp at Jangothang.

Day 7: Trek to Lingshi Base Camp (6-7 hours)

  • Start with a nutritious breakfast.
  • Ascend to Lingshi (4,010m).
  • Begin your trek, soaking up the views of yak herder camps and the magnificent Jhomolhari, Jichu Drake, and Tsherim Gang.
  • Camp at Lingshi – Enjoy a night at this picturesque base camp.

Day 8: Trek to Chebisa (5-6 hours)

  • Breakfast before trekking—because even adventurers need their fuel!
  • Visit Lingshi Fortress- A quick detour to explore this historic fortress.
  • Explore Chebisa Village 
  • Engage with locals and get a taste of mountain village life.
  • Camp at Chebisa (3,880m) 

Day 9: Trek to Shomuthang (6-7 hours)

  • A hearty breakfast to kickstart your day.
  • Experience the traditional khadhar farewell from Chebisa villagers.
  • Trek to Shomuthang (4,260m)
  • Hike through forests of junipers and firs, and soak in the natural beauty.
  • Rest and rejuvenate Shomuthang campsite.

Day 10: Trek to Robluthang (6-7 hours)

  • Enjoy breakfast before setting off.
  • Trek to Robluthang (4,160m)
  • Ascend and take in majestic views of snow-capped peaks and lush forests.
  • Camp at Robluthang

Day 11: Trek to Lingmithang (6-7 hours)

  • Breakfast – Fuel up for a big day.
  • Begin the trek
  • Navigate the last and highest pass of the trek, then descend through a rocky trail.
  • Camp at Lingmithang (4,140m)

Day 12: Trek to Laya (4-5 hours)

  • Start your day with a meal before descending along the river.
  • Explore Laya Village
  • Discover the beauty of Laya, and interact with locals who are sure to charm you with their stories.
  • Camp at Laya (3,800m)

Day 13: Explore Laya

  • Enjoy a relaxed breakfast.
  • Explore Laya Village, learn about local lifestyles, and try on traditional Laya dress. You’ll look fabulous!
  • Spend another night soaking in the Laya village ambiance.

Day 14: Trek to Rhoduphu (7-8 hours)

  • Start with breakfast.
  • Enjoy the traditional khadhar farewell ceremony as you say goodbye to Laya.
  • Trek to Rhoduphu (4,160m)
  • Descend to an army camp and trek through a beautiful rhododendron forest.
  • Camp at Rhoduphu.

Day 15: Trek to Narethang (5-6 hours)

  • Fuel up with a nutritious breakfast.
  • Trek to Narethang (6,395m)
  • Explore the Tsomo Lake and enjoy breathtaking views of the Himalayas and the Tibetan border.
  • Camp at Narethang

Day 16: Trek to Tarina (6-7 hours)

  • Start with a hearty meal.
  • Trek to Tarina (3,970m)
  • Ascend and descend, enjoy views of the Himalayas, and visit a glacial lake before descending into the Tarina Valley.
  • Camp at Tarina and relax.

Day 17: Trek to Woche (6-7 hours)

  • Enjoy breakfast.
  • Trek to Woche
  • Hike through conifer forests, explore waterfalls, and reach the first village in the Lunana region.
  • Camp at Woche village.

Day 18: Trek to Lhedi (6-7 hours)

  • Fuel up for the day.
  • Trek to Lhedi (3,700m)
  • Enjoy views of the Himalayas as you trek to Lhedi Village.
  • Engage with locals and explore the village.
  • Camp at Lhedi.

Day 19: Trek to Thanza (6-7 hours)

  • Start your trek with a hearty meal.
  • Trek to Thanza
  • Pass through Chozo Village and continue your journey to Thanza.
  • Settle in for the night at your campsite in Thanza.

Day 20: Explore Thanza

  • Enjoy Thanza’s local breakfast.
  • Spend a slow day exploring Thanza and learning about the local way of life.
  • Spend another night in this peaceful village.

Day 21: Trek to Danji (3-4 hours)

  • Start with a meal.
  • Trek to Danji (4,230m)
  • Enjoy views of three Lunana villages and explore yak meadows and herder huts.
  • Camp at Danji campsite.

Day 22: Trek to Tsochena (5-6 hours)

  • Begin the day with a hearty breakfast.
  • Trek to Tsochena (4,970m)
  • Ascend to panoramic views of the mountains and explore beautiful lakes.
  • Camp at Tsochena

Day 23: Trek to Jichu Dramo (5-6 hours)

  • Wake up with a lake-view 
  • Breakfast – Fuel up for the day.
  • Trek to Jichu Dramo (5,050m)
  • Navigate both ascents and descents as you trek through stunning landscapes.
  • Camp at Jichu Dramo 

Day 24: Trek to Chukarpo (5-6 hours)

  • Start your day with breakfast.
  • Trek to Chukarpo (4,600m)
  • Ascend through a moraine and enjoy the Himalayas’ scenery.
  • Camp at Chukarpo

Day 25: Trek to Tampe Tsho (5-6 hours)

  • Fuel up for the day.
  • Trek to Tampe Tsho (4,300m)
  • Descend through yak herder huts and ascend to a clear turquoise lake.
  • Camp at Tampe Tsho

Day 26: Trek to Maurothang (4-5 hours)

  • Start your day with breakfast.
  • Trek to Maurothang (3,610m)
  • Ascend and descend, explore Om Tsho Lake, and enjoy the mixed forest.
  • Camp at Maurothang.

Day 27: Trek to Sephu (5-6 hours)

  • Enjoy breakfast before setting off.
  • Trek to Sephu
  • Use horses to give you a nudge as you trek, and explore Nikka Chhu bridge’s stores and restaurants.
  • Drive to Phobjikha
  • Arrive at your hotel in Phobjikha Village, and check in.
  • Optional Hot Stone Baths: Relax with a traditional hot stone bath, if you’re up for it.

Day 28: Explore Phobjikha

  • Breakfast and Check-Out
  • Stroll around Phobjikha Valley.
  • Visit Black-Necked Crane information centre to learn about these unique birds.
  • Visit Gangtey monastery.
  • Head back to Thimphu, check in at your hotel, and rest.

Day 29: Explore Thimphu

  • Enjoy breakfast before checking out.
  • Visit the Largest Sitting Buddha: Say hello to the Buddha, who is always happy to meet new faces.
  • Explore Memorial Stupa.
  • Lunch 
  • Head back to Paro, check in at your hotel, and get some rest.
  • Celebrate your last night in Bhutan with a farewell dinner.

Day 30: Departure

  • Enjoy breakfast and check out of the hotel.
  • Drive towards Paro Airport, where your departure gifts await as a fond farewell.
  • Depart with memories as Bhutan gradually seeps behind the great Himalayas where you once set foot on.
